The Dead Famous

Whilst waiting at the bar for a drink we noticed Dan Hetherton, the drummer of The Dead Famous: the band that we’d come to see. Behind him, an adoring fan waited to speak to him, and then proceeded to ask him to sign her face. Why you want someone to sign your face is beyond us, unless she doesn’t wash, however the girl seemed ecstatic.

The Dead Famous are a four-piece pop/rock band from London with influences ranging from Bon Jovi to Slash.

They were nice enough to invite us down to their first proper headline gig in London. So we slapped on our AAA (access all areas) pass and perused backstage for an interview with the band.

TDF told us they had been preparing for this gig for ages with tons of self-promotion and hours in the studio. They currently have a whole album worth of material ready. They could hardly keep still, clearly anxious to get out in front of the crown and impress (which they did). Sadly during the interview they kept it pro, refusing a shot of Fireball for good luck… Until drummer Dan Hetherton drank from a bottle of Fireball on stage. Clearly he couldn’t resist the fiery goodness!

The lads also took the time to tell us why they love Fireball so much, and they compared it to the old Fireball sweets they used to get at school. Being budding rock stars they drink it straight like all good hotel wrecking artists would. Except Luke Bayliss: he likes it with apple juice but he plays bass, so we let him off. They also love a cheeky game of shot roulette, similar to chat roulette except you don’t get weird blokes waggling their bits at you through the Internet. Instead you have to spin a ball round a roulette wheel and drink which ever shot it lands on. So actually nothing really like chat roulette…

We have high hopes for this band that are currently unsigned (this won’t last long), partly because they play top music but mostly because they are huge Fireball fans.
